New Nimbuzz for Android! As VoIP as it gets, so you can talk as much as you can!

YouTube Preview Image

Important Note (Video Above): “Nimbuzz has been asked by Skype to remove support for all Skype services, effective October 31st.  For free and cheap international calls from your mobile you can still use Nimbuzz and NimbuzzOut ;). More information you can find here.

We have a new Nimbuzz version for all Android phones! Download now for FREE!

With Nimbuzz 2.0 for Android you are going to be able to enjoy calling over the internet (VoIP)  and chatting  for free more than ever before. :)

Why? Because we added amazing new features such as:

  • NimbuzzOut calling – cheap international calling to mobile phones and landlines
  • A new dialer tab – so you can call mobile phones and landlines via NimbuzzOut or any of our SIP partners (Google/Gizmo5, Sipgate, Xeloq, T-Pad, VoIPax, Gulfsip, IPS, Badatel and more)
  • Friend suggestions – see which of your phonebook contacts are already using Nimbuzz
  • Facebook Connect – no more disconnecting errors!

If you owe a Droid X, Droid 2, Incredible, HTC EVO, HTC Aria, HTC Desire or any other device running Android, you can download Nimbuzz and start saving money on minutes and text messages right away!

You can ask the guys over at Phandroid, they already tested the new Nimbuzz version and they are loving it!

Find all the details after the jump!

NimbuzzOut calling has landed on Android devices. You can make super cheap international calls to mobile phones and landlines worldwide right from Nimbuzz on your Android mobile. For example, you can call India for $0.082/min, or the USA and UK for just $0.020/min. Curious about our calling to other countries? Check the cheap NimbuzzOut rates.

Friend suggestions automatically detects which of your phone contacts are also Nimbuzz users and creates a list of suggested friends from which you can choose who to add to your Nimbuzz contact list. The big advantage of this feature is that once you add them, you will be able to see when they are online, so instead of a paid call (using your minutes), you can choose to call them for free over your data connection . Nice, right?

The Dialer tab allows you to call mobile phone and landline numbers that you don’t have in your address book. Best of all, as soon as I dial the number NimbuzzOut shows me how much will I pay per minute for the call.

The tab has another really useful feature; it allows you to set a permanent country prefix. This helps a lot when you are abroad, for example, and are calling the same country over and over again. No need to remember the country code, simply dial your friend’s or family’s number as you are used to

Facebook Connect means that we are using Facebook’s official API to connect you to Facebook Chat. This will eliminate all disconnect errors, improve the security of your Facebook data, allow you to see the status message of your Facebook friends (love this one!) and you can use your custom Facebook username to login – instead of your email address (more on Custom usernames). Make sure you reconnect to Facebook once you have updated Nimbuzz on your Android phone.

You can  download the new version directly using this code below or using this link – FREE Download!

Have any questions about any of the new features?

Let us know what you think of this new version in the section below, we’ll take your opinion in consideration for future improvements ;)

-Yes, your Skype friends can call you on Nimbuzz as long as you are logged in your Skype account on Nimbuzz.
    – We also support SkypeOut which allows you to make calls to mobile phones and landlines, but you can’t receive calls using your Skype number.

  23. Doesn’t work: Nexus1 w/ Froyo

Added my Skype account – ok. Try to call Echo123 (test call) – everything ok until it connects at which point there is NO AUDIO. No sound out of headset. Turn speaker on – no sound. NO SOUND. HOW CAN A CALLING APP WORK WITHOUT SOUND????

Added my SIP Account – says it is connected. Try to make a call. It rings but once call is connected NO SOUND.
No sound out of phone. Turn speaker on – NO SOUND.
How can a CALLING APP – isn’t that what Nimbuzz is? – work without SOUND?????????????

  27. Hi Dan,

Re: Sep 9 msg… htc aria

I have a 200mb data plan, but no sms plan.

The message screen pops up when I try to skip phone registration.

“You will not be able to load your phone contacts in Nimbuzz and make free calls and send messages without paying for SMS”

My main purpose of installing Nimbuzz is to chat with my friends who only use Skype for instant messaging. Will I be charged for SMS if all I’m doing is IM?

    Thanks for your help.

    Ming September 13th, 2010
  28. @Ming we recommend that you use Nimbuzz with an unlimited data plan so you avoid any extra charges. You won’t be charged for SMS but if you go over your data plan you will be charged. Where are you located? Who is your service provider? Please let me know if you have any other questions.

    Dan September 17th, 2010
  29. I can make skype calls but the person receiving the call cannot hear me. I am using a spring EPIC 4G phone. Any fixes yet?

  32. I have installed Nimbuzz on my Samsung Vibrant recently. But, when I try to call a mobile number using skype out, it says “Service Error -> Phone no could not be validated”.

Do we need to add these numbers as contacts in Skype before we can dial them using Nimbuzz? Is this mandatory?

    Vinay September 29th, 2010
  33. I’ve been getting that “service error” message too, starting a few days ago, maybe since one of the latest updates. it used to work here, but now it doesn’t anymore, what is going on?

I tried to blame it on bad 3g signal, but not even wifi will do it.

I’m using Nimbuzzout from the android app, by the way.

    paulo September 30th, 2010
  34. @Vinay – thanks for letting us know. Are you using Wi-Fi or 3G? Where are you located and where are you trying to call? Do you have enough NimbuzzOut credits? Let me know and Ill work with you in order to serve your problem. Thanks!

    Dan October 1st, 2010
  35. @Paulo since you are experiencing the same issue as Vinay – I will ask you the same questions – Are you using Wi-Fi or 3G? Where are you located and where are you trying to call? Do you have enough NimbuzzOut credits? Thanks!

    Dan October 1st, 2010
  36. @All – just wanted to follow up with everyone – Is everyone doing ok? Nimbuzz working good for all? Anyone who hasn’t received any help? Let me know! Thanks guys!

    Dan October 1st, 2010
  37. @Dan.

Like I said, the app behaves the same on either wifi or 3G – the “phone number could not be validated” message whn calling and now I see the dialpad window won’t display the call cost as I enter the number.

I am calling from São Paulo Brazil, my operator is TIM (GSM, UMTS 3G I think), usually to the US but attempting to call brazilian numbers will get the same result. Phone is a motorola quench, running cupcake android.

And finally, yes, I do have credit to make these calls (I’m slightly over $3).

Funny thing is, under 2 weeks ago it would work without a hitch.

    Hope this helps.

    paulo October 2nd, 2010
  38. @Dan – I’m located in Dallas and I face this issue either with wifi or 3G. I’m trying to call using the skype out, so I think I don’t need any Nimbuzz out credits. I’m trying to call some number in Dallas.

    Vinay October 2nd, 2010
  39. @Paulo – Thanks for getting back to me – I actually received a report today saying that the problem you are experiencing should be fixed by now – give it a try and please let me know if this persists. Thanks a lot!

    Dan October 4th, 2010
  40. @Vinay – thanks for replying – Ok so you are using SkypeOut and you have Skype credits? Make sure to try it one more time – It seems that it was an issue that was resolved last week – Please let me know

    Dan October 4th, 2010
  41. @Dan: No such luck yet, getting the same error message. Usa numbers show the call rate as I type the number, though.

Maybe I should contact support by other means to better figure this out?

    paulo October 5th, 2010
  42. @Dan – No luck yet. Yes, I do have skype credits. I got to know from my friends that this feature was working earlier.

    Vinay October 5th, 2010
  43. Ok, I found something. If I change my phone’s system language to english, calls to the US work, but calling other countries is hit or miss (can’t call brazil, uk or argentina, for example).

Seems like it’s a problem with the country codes list. I also noticed my default setting from that same list won’t stick if my phone language is set to portuguese.

I’d prefer to have my phone set to my language, and what makes this a bit more irritating is that it used to work smoothly a while ago, perhaps before the latest updates…?

    paulo October 5th, 2010
  44. @Paulo This is a great discovery from your part! I will be sending this ASAP so our product managers can investigate.

@Vinay Are you experiencing the same thing as Paulo? Have you tried to change the language? Let me know – Daniel

  46. I’ve just installed the Nimbuzz app to my Samsung captivate. I’m trying to use Nimbuzz out credits ($10) to make a call to Egypt, but I’m getting the “Phone number could not be validated message”. Is there any tricks that I need to do to get it to work?

    Mohamed October 13th, 2010
  47. @Munish Thanks for reporting this issue – what device are you using? Are you using a Wi-Fi connection or 3G? Is this once in a while or every time you try to log in?

    Dan October 13th, 2010
  48. I actually got it to call. I realized that I had to enter the country code despite selecting it. It seems that selecting the country isn’t that useful. On the other hand, I have problems with the mic. Samsung captivate over wifi.

    Mohamed October 14th, 2010
  49. Phone: Samsung Captivate
    Model Number: SGH-I897
