The GOOG made us go WOW with Froyo, Google TV and more! #io2010 (VIDEO)

Back from the Google I/O 2010 conference we wanted to keep you guys in the loop on what was announced and show you some pictures and videos about what happened.
First off, we were massively impressed with the announcements and real time demos of Froyo (Android 2.2), and cannot wait to get our hands on it. Besides Froyo, Google also announced Google TV, another milestone from our friends in Mountain View – absolutely impressive!
Second, a big “THANK YOU!” to Google, HTC, and Sprint for giving everyone a HTC Evo 4G from Sprint. Nimbuzz runs amazingly fast on it (video after the jump
)
Alright, let’s get into the details, pictures, and videos.
With over 5000 people registered, and the conference being sold out 2.5 months ahead of time, this was truly a massive event. Google did a great job at organizing everything. The only downside was that we heard a few developers say that it wasn’t technical enough for them, and too business focused.
The general theme seemed to be Google vs. Apple. This was made abundantly clear on day 2 when Vic Gundotra demoed system and browser performance of their (open) Android OS vs. Apple’s (closed) OS, comparing a standard Nexus One with Froyo to the performance of a Apple iPad – guess who swam the fastest lap?:)
In regards to what you can expect from Froyo (2.2), here are some specs:
- 5x faster than 2.1
- tethering and Wifi hotspot (yes, your phone will be a Wifi hotspot)
- 2x-3x Javascript performance boost
- Flash and AIR support
Next up, Google TV. Here is what you need to know:
It let’s you use your Nexus One as a remote control and it’s built on Android (2.1 right now, but they’ll upgrade it later). It runs Google Chrome for the browser. And yes, it has Flash!
And because Google TV is Android-powered, your apps will work on the TV. Google TV will be available at Best Buy in the Fall of 2010.
So what was all the Sprint HTC Evo 4G about you ask? Well, this was the line of people waiting to get their hands on one.

We got ours pretty quickly and here is a video of Nimbuzz on the HTC Evo 4G from Sprint:
We also loved the guys from Parrot, who make the fantastic Augmented Reality (AR) Drone, which is a remote controlled flying object that creates a Wifi hotspot so you can use your Android phone or your iPhone to control it and even battle against your friends – Awesome! Check out the video below:

And finally, after all these great announcements, we want to let you know that Google Wave is now open to everyone - Yay!
Now there were a ton of other exhibitors and exciting parties and sessions going on, but we can’t get into everything here, so please check the Google I/O channel on Youtube for all the official videos of anything you might have missed.
